Cailean & I have just come back from the huge park on the lake where we go for our marathon walks (and runs.)
After having a good bit of play and running for about 45min. we met a man walking a Golden Retriever. I was ready to do our regular disappearing act; even if it meant skulking off through the slush in the woods. Much to my surprise after a quick exuberant greeting Cailean sensed that this dog was infirm (on Prednisone steroids)and became overtly gentle and attentive. We walked together for 1/2 an hour more. I was very proud of my usually boisterous dog, she slowed her pace to match the much older dog & occasionally was affectionate to the dog as well. I was amazed to watch this empathetic behaviour. They are the most amazing creatures that we all love.

How lovely I agree - dogs can be very empathic when the need arises

When I came home from hospital the hounds were very gentle around me and Joe, our lurcher,
never left my side.

Our hounds might be able to wrap us around their little paws when they want to, but they are very sensitive & loving

So lovely to hear your stories

I agree the puppies are very good with Merlot and they do not try to chew his bandage.
