If you want your deerhound to run all that he wants, you must visit Norway and the endless beaches on the west coast:)

Snorre is lovely. What a good action shot! My girls love the beach and we go nearly every day, depending on the tide. It is great to see them having so much fun

It's always so much fun watching the big body full of energy running around like crazy. If the weather is nice I use to bring my camera

Awesome pictures. I can't imagine the water temperature is any warmer than here. The water temperature is typically 6-8 degrees Celsius
Cailean and I are about to head down to the lake for a run. Although she does most of the running. I have to stay out of the deeper slush as I ruined my regular snow boots the other day.
We were down at the park on Lake Ontario & as usual I was chucking the ball for her along the beach. Well damned if I didn't hook it right into the water. Do you think my hound would set foot near the waters edge- No Way Mum! and silly stupid woman that I am couldn't just let it go. After watching it slosh back and forth a bit in the waves I thought I could be quick, beat the wave and reach the ball. Hmph! Not only didn't I beat the wave, I almost took a header as my foot lurched when I felt the icy cold water enter my boots.
I swear the shock could kill you! The pain of it was instant and intense. I hobbled a kilometer back to the car fearful of not getting back. By the time I reached the car the furry top of boots were encased in ice.
Needless to say I learned my lesson.

That sounded very bad... Since the deerhound is so gentle and you often see pictures of them near the fireplace, I thougt that Snorre also would be a little scared of the cold water. But he really isn't!! He can even go out in the water when it's under 0 degreeds celsius!! And he always want to rest in a cold place- even in the winter. Here you can see him resting after a good run:side:

My lurcher “Loftie” jumped into a canal when he was young (thought he could walk on water!!) He only liked paddling after that!!

Loftie loved to paddle in the sea when we went on holiday & as he was so gentle when he played with children they loved to play with him but it took 5 or 6 years before he would swim & he pleased himself about that when he did
