Xena is the stamp of deerhound I absolutely love, a deerhound I would have had among my hunting dogs no bother, a wolfhoundy deerhound makes make cringe, but this type make me say, WOW..but Bree is a very, very good looking hound, get the background on that picture, and replace it with some heather clad hills, or ancient castle ruin, and he screams out Celtic charm..in fact they are all nice hounds, great photos, thank you fro sharing them with us....

I KNEW you would like Xena after reading your book She is a huntress but in reality even though she can take down a roo, I doubt she could wrestle a deer. Personally I prefer the lines of Bree and Lockie. They are not Wolfie but solid muscular hounds, well Lockie is anyway, Bree is just muscular. To me Xena is too fine.
But everyone to their own

Yes, Xena I would take home, Bree I would breed from. Dont let size dictate what she could or couldnt hunt, all mine took deer, fox, hare and hundreds of rabbits.. no roo mind you:laugh: its whats inside that counts..The thing is with Xena you could put larger deerhound males across her for mating, knowing the progeny wont be too coarse, this is what we did, using large Rohanis males, and Coranach Pennys Chieftain (the best British coursing deerhound in modern times) This kept our bitches smallish and strong, but never too fine.
