Is anybody`s hound doing this funny behaviour?
Sometimes Clyde is chewing his own feet, sometimes he sleeps with his foot in his mouth!!!!

Yes sometimes Ben chews his front leg and paws, don't know why!

Our old dog used to chew her feet and in the end we came to the conclusion that it was a food intolerance because she also seemed to have very itchy, irritated skin which was better when we switched her over to better quality food. Is this a possibility? There is a very informative site called www.dogfoodanalysis.com which I found useful. Don't know if this helps. It's just a thought.

Have you got foxes around your neighbourhood? It's easy for house dogs to pick up fox mange and they don't have to come into direct contact with affected foxes to do it. This topic came up at Scottish Breeds in conversation on Saturday and it was a veterinary friend who suggested it as a possibility. In the case we were discussing, it sounds as though it's very likely - maybe worth investigating?

Have you got cats at home? Storm licks and nibbles his feet then rubs his nose with the damp forelegs to "wash" his muzzle - think he's learnt this from our cats washing their faces as he only does this after dinner! Lets hope he doesn't start trying to climb trees aswell!

Hi our deerhound blue does the face washing thing then he drops his front end onto the carpet and pushes himself round the room with his back legs like a snow plough until he thinks his face is clean of dinner

Hi, Norbert is also chewing his paws sometimes, not often but it happens.

I have notice sometimes he is a little bit red at his paws, I don't know if he has been cold when we were out in the snow. Or if it is some alergic reaction.
