TOPIC: Help from my Scottish forum friends!

Help from my Scottish forum friends! 2 years ago #23618

My son is playing in the British Boys Championship this August in Kilmarnock, Barrasie and Irvine Golf Club.
Does anyone know of anywhere (cheapish) near there that we can stay. We are looking for the cheapest options as we are constantly travelling around with him, in his budding golfing career.

I can't help you, but good luck to your son. I stay in Days inn if there are any of those around where he is playing. They let the dogs stay with you and they do not charge for them, if that is of any help.

Wow Lurch that kid is doing really well isn't he? Kudos to you for being an excellent mother! I suspect your wish to find reasonably priced accommodation is a dream but who knows? If it makes you feel any better, we're paying for our son's med school is Aus and we live on the other side of the world in Canada. At this rate I think we may be sharing our deerhounds' kibble in our old age.

If we werent so far from Kilmarnock, you could stay with us,but I think about 3+ hours away....
We hired a caravan last year for £130 a week...
Mind you a B+B isnt much more than that...

Thanks everyone and yes, cheap is good. As you can imagine golf costs bucket loads, but not just the equipment, over the last year, I've lost count the amount of times they've stayed in hotels and now son cannot share with his Dad due to the snoring we have to get 2 rooms
He did well in Blackpool, he made the cut, but then drifted out in the final rounds. He has just come 2nd in the Faldo series. We have one at end of this month in Norwich, I am taking him to this one and best of all, my aunty lives 15 miles away from the course!

Oh well, one day he might be buying me a villa in Portugal with his winnings

My son, far right, just won the Champion Club for the 2nd year in a row.

There are loads of B@B in the Troon/Barassie area and of the tree mentioned Troon and Barassie are nicest - easy access to good beach and the golf courses. i used to live in the area! I'm sure you can google B&B or small hotels in Ayrshire. There are also Premier Inn and TravelLodges in the area.
Hope the sun shines for you and you can admire the splended scenery as he plays his birdies!
