We have had an amazing event take place down ont farm today. One of Alan's ewes has given birth to 5 live lambs. Alan says this is the first set of quins he has ever had born since he started farming. One of them (the smallest) has just come out of the bottom oven in the AGA. Just so that you can get an idea of how small it is, this is it in the dogs dish. One of Mother Natures miracles.

If I can't have a puppy yet, I want a lamb to cuddle.(Maybe I'm missing the OH). That lamb is just adorable. Are they all doing ok?

Yep, they are all doing ok. four of them are up on their feet and suckling off their mother.
Dish of the day is wrapped in a vet bed and next to a radiator but it is looking hopeful so far
that they will all survive, fingers crossed.

That is quite a miracle, ive never heard of 5 being born before,
never mind them all living, will they all be staying with the mother,
Fingers crossed Dish of the day continues to do well and thrives.

Keep dish cosy and fed! What hard work for you all Sally! Do you let the dogs near the wee thing or would that be tempting fate too much?

No, didn't like to leave Alan to cope on his own with all the animals. It's rather hectic around here at the moment. Good luck if you are going.

How could you say that about poor Dish of the day.

By the way he is now called Ramsey. Get it? Dish of the day, Gordon Ramsey, boy lamb = Ram sey. Good eh?

Gillian, the dogs are really good with the lambs, I wouldn't trust Finnan (the youngster) with lambs but the rest are ok. I am sitting here with four lambs in at the moment, a pair of black twins, Ramsey and another one who has not long come in. They've all been fed and are sleeping now.

Alan has gone back out to work. I probably won't see him now until tomorrow morning. It's all gone a bit mad today with lots of new babies being born. I feel quite sorry for him really because I always used to do the indvidual pens, feeding and watering the ewes and assisting lambs that are struggling to suckle. But, because of my bad back I am very limited in what I can do this year so apart from looking after the weak or rejected lambs, Alan is having to do it all.

That's right, I don't usually name the boys and I try not to become too attached to them but
I couldn't resist naming Ramsey, he is such a little fighter with a strong will to live.

He is lying on my lap at the moment.

I wasn't there but Alan was. Alan was carrying on with his other jobs and kept popping in
to check on how the ewe was doing. Alan thought she was having three but then out popped another
one and then when he went back a short while later the ewe had had another one.

How dare you, runt indeed. Ramsey is not a runt, he's a bit on the small side I'll give you
that but he's not a runt. I hope Alan doesn't find a foster mom for him cos I think he's
lurverly and I want to keep him. Ramsey would be good company for Connor when he's a bit older
and bigger.

Every year, when I have the pets, I say to Alan "don't take that one or that one and then
sure enough I come home from work and one of my lambs has been taken to foster on to a ewe.

I don't mind the boys going so much but I hate the girls going, I get quite attached to them.

He is so cute. I think we need another picture Sally. I am always surprised how tame they are almost like a dog in the way they follow you around.

Bad news about your back. Hope it's feeling better soon.
