As promised this morning, here we have the best photographs of my cats that I could find. First, ladies and gentlemen, I give you Wee Mad Arthur, glamour puss of this parish, posing on the car a few years ago

then Huntington, the oldest by three months and the greediest, nicking dog food

and finally, MySpace, when she was a kitten, with her brother Fiendish

Wee Mad Arthur is in full agreement with this - she's the vainest cat I've ever had.

OK I have to ask...Why is "she" named Arthur?

The original Wee Mad Arthur is a character in Terry Pratchett's excellent novel Feet of Clay. He's a six-inch tall gnome who lives in the sewers of Ankh-Morpork (twinned with Wincanton), speaks fluent Glaswegian and kills rats by head-butting them. He's totally unaware of the incongruity between his size and the devastation he causes.

When Wee Mad Arthur the cat came to live with us, she caused instant chaos among the resident three sisters Huntington, Bangley and Coates, who'd never had a cross word in their lives. Wee Mad Arthur sashayed through the resulting punch-ups without a care in the world. So she kind of named herself, really. However, we have had a few female cats with traditionally male names. We've had a Baggins and a Henry Wheelbearing (don't ask!) More recently departed were Barcode and her daughter Scribbles, both of whom were exceptionally stripey.

She is a stunning cat. I used to have a beautiful long haired persian cross called Misty. He was grey and white and had a beautiful face (not pushed in)
He died a long time ago now from feline aids. He was the best ratter and would chase them across the roof.
A girlfriend and I used to share a house and one night while watching telly we saw something drop pass the window. We both looked at each other wondering what it was and then we saw Misty's paw swiping the air at the top of the window. He loved hunting rats
Last Edit: 3 years, 1 month ago by Brollachan. Reason: Atrocious typing

Wee Mad Arthur is a brilliant hunter too, but at the moment it's Huntington who's top provider - she brought a baby rabbit in and dropped it at Tavish's feet this morning and made it quite clear that it was a present for him. He thoroughly enjoyed it. Phil says she did the same yesterday, which may account for the smells he's been producing!

Great photo's Sid. I miss our Cleo but Cleo could not cope with another single Deerhound in
her house so she packed her bags and, in a huff, moved next door!

Lovely pics of stunning looking cats. I miss my Siamese Ellie - she ruled the dogs with a paw of iron
