Does anyone know of local shows within an hout of Northamptonshire? Would like to visit a show to watch ringcraft but no dog sitters so it has to be a short visit.

I do know that the Huntingdon CS show is held at Keysoe in Bedfordshire. If you log onto Deerhound Club website and look up Deerhound events, it tells you on there, sometimes they say Huntingdon for eg, but they are held somewhere different. I am sure that one is coming up. Luton CS also, I will have a look at see for you.

Thanks for the info - we are now going to Huntingdon and the NEC so look forward to meeting some of you there and puting some faces to the names on the forum. Thanks for your help. Just one other thing already posted but only one response - how do most folk keep their dogs(and umans) safe when travelling in the car? Thanks

Kerry and myself are going to NEC Dec with Elsie and Logan, so say hello. My dogs travel in the back of a peugeot estate, I have a guard for behind the front seats, and a tail guard so I can have the back open with them in.

Thanks - hadn't thought of tail guard as well as one behind front seats. We have an estate as well so that could just be the answer. I was also concerned that a sudden stop would result in Murphy the terrier totally squashed by hairy monster DH !!

The whippet travels with the deerhound but cannot be left in the car as he will get into the front seats, and eats the picnic, any dog snacks and anything he fancies really, he can undo zips, pockets, handbags so not to be trusted bless him!!

Many thanks everyone for all the suggestions. We will keep up to speed now via this site and the Dog World/Our Dogs calanders. All we need now is to persuade Freya that she does have to stand still for more than ten seconds and not all judges want to be licked to death. Still can't seem to get her to stand with hind legs far enough back. We haven't put in the time yet really but we'll learn from all you folks seasoned to the show techniques and prepare for a few bouts of fun or humiliation depending on sense of humour at the time. Thanks again
