Elsie Grey managed to behave (reasonably well) in the ring when being judged by Nessie last Sunday at Ardingly.

However...... In the afternoon she was in an AV Beginners Class. So in we trot, 'Elsie grey, do your best' I say She stood reasonably still for the judge....did a lovely triangle and when he said run around and join the others.....Elsie grey lost the plot .......

To my Horror I realised we were Face to face....She was running backwards in front of me on her hind legs..... she had a very stupid look on her face I stopped pushed her down and did my 'best cross voice'..... to no avail.......she proceeded to jump, hop and twist and try & jump over me.... Then after getting her paw caught in her show lead and getting it stuck in her mouth..... we stopped again.... and then to top it all .... as we run off again I realised I felt a little heavy on one side ...... Elsie Grey was running and trying to 'Bonk' my left Leg at the same time ....... Ooohhhh the Shame!!!!!!

The judge very kindly said 'She is only young & it's been a long day, try again' Bless him We tried again and she repeated the whole mad routine again

My face was sooooo hot and red, you could have fried and egg on it Nessie was at the ringside crying with laughter

Dear God, what a show!!!! Elsie grey really is a Nut Case Dreading the next time we are in the ring again

Thanks Gill..... it could have been worse (just about), Elsie Grey could have finished off the routine with one of her famous 'Skiddies' I suppose It is a wonder she did not get an ASBO

It must have looked soooo funny....with me dragging an 18mth old Deerhound around the ring while she was humping my left leg I did not think bitches did that, thought it was a dog thing

I did laugh a lot afterwards..... but I did feel a fool in the ring The judge said she was doing well untill she did her party piece!

Oh you poor girl! Nothing can make quite such a fool of you as your own dog. We've all been there, though, even if not quite so entertainingly. It can only get better.

Elsie Grey has done some daft things....but that was pretty spectacular I just hope that she does not think it is really funnny and try to do it again We are supposed to be going to show this Sunday!

Re:Ooohh the Shame of it Elsie Grey!! 3 years, 1 month ago #9762

Wierd things those hormones or just young one antics! Ive been pulled clean off my feet by my two when out 'walking'! Picture this; just picked up pooh in bag, tying knot in bag, two dogs on leads in one hand. STUPID, STUPID woman walked in front of us with Great Dane, instead of goodmorning and keep going, she hesitated, tensed up and let out a yell! Why, I dont know, ok it was 1st thing in the morn but I didnt think I looked too bad!!! Anyhoo, her dog obviously sensed this and went balistic! My two reacted in kind and took off towards this bleeping woman with me flying sideways through the air attached to their leads screaming STOP! I hit the ground, did a spot of mudskiing on my backside and wellies then finally got control-ish! I composed my self, wiped the mud from my now very ripped jeans, said a few choice words that I cant repeat to silly lady and continued on my walk! Not our best or most dignified moment! I understand completely! Gillx

Oh Gill, that's too funny! Not a good start to the morning!

Elsie Grey is due her 2nd season soon, so maybe it was her hormones that gave her a silly turn

One morning I was bending down to pick up poo.....Daisy May flew past at 100 miles an hour, closely followed by the big lump Elsie Grey....... Daisy May missed me, Elsie Grey ran into me....... spun me around, I flew across the grass, landed on my bum, legs in the air As I stood up I realised that as she spun me around the poo bag had been flung open and I was splattered with poo from my legs to the side of my face And do you think I could find a tissue We had to rush back to the car and look for the doggy wet wipes YUK

OOOOOH thats nasty! If your little darlings are anything like mine, we are not talking about a little pooh either! Nice smell when trapped in a car too eh?!

Yep..... it was a giant packet Now I always try to see which direction they are galloping in before I bend down to pick it up! I had to have another shower before I went to school.... as tempting as it was... I could not blame the kids for that one!

Great levellers our dogs, don't you think? Here is a pic of me, having had a collision with Bobby (Melody and Sonata's sire),different, but similar cirucumstances - just not in front of a judge. The picture is taken at Birmingham National in 2005 - I had to go in the ring looking like this. Bless Elsie Grey - at least she keeps all of us on here amused.

I should of course have credited the friend who took this - Brodie (John). Don't you just love him ?

I was picking up pooh once, a big jobbie, when a kid cycled past on his bike and stopped to stroke Murphy. He pulled just at the crucial moment and I stuck my thumb in it.

At the limited show last year, I bent down to pick a pile up and dropped my keys right in it! Not nice.

Kerry she will learn, she is still a baby. At my
Crufts debut last year, I couldn't blame the dog, it was me....I stopped after the first run to hear the voice "Once more round the ring please madam" how embarrassing, I went red, everyone was looking and it was me, not the poor dog, I let him down!! I think the nerves get the better of you, wouldn't mind, but I was about 12th in line and had watched everyone else run twice!

Ooh Jenny.... poor you, that must have hurt...hope it does not give Elsie Grey any ideas!

I could not believe that she was walking backwards and I was looking up at her silly face.... she had her tongue to one side and I swear she was grinning down at me!

I am never sure if it's our hounds who are crazy or us I think Elsie Grey forgot where she was and had a bit of a Circus trick going on..... maybe she could try one of those unicycles next time

All of our gang smile and have a real sense of humour - most of the time, that's how I like it. Just be pleased that she enjoys performing in the ring. You have never met Bobby because he hates the showring so much, we didn't think it fair to make him.

The one time we ventured into a show ring (at a companion dog show) Loki rolled over on his back, legs akimbo, waiting for a tummy rub and refused to get up.

Sorry I had to laugh too, you must have been mortified. I wonder what came over her one minute being so good then on the home straight doing all of that.

JennG all I can say is Ouch! That must have hurt.

Oh sweet Elsie Grey How I wish I was there to see. Did anyone have a video? Lockie has done some crazy antics but at least he is happy even if I'm feeling terribly foolish
