Just a quicky to thank everyone who warmly welcomed us to the Deerhound Forum, and your interesting and pleasing comments. Can it only be three weeks (to the day) that we picked up Holly from Sally and Alan, and with their good wishes and advise ringing in our ears, set off home. We were expecting some minor problems, but Holly hadn't read the same books as we had, and within a short period of time had settled in with Max as her self appointed best friend (and tormentor). Toys and bones are constantly offered up by Max for Holly to share, but all seem to be ignored - this is strange we thought! One day Caroline came in quietly to find Holly playing with a favourite toy of Max's, throwing it about the room and having great fun, when she noticed that she had an audience the toy was abandoned, and Holly decided that laying on her bed in true Deerhound fashion was a more in keeping with a three and a half year old lady!
Greetings are now enthusiastically administered, sloppy Deerhound kisses, and frantic tail wagging every morning, and when I arrive home from work. Max and Holly vying for the best position to say 'Hi dad, where have you been, and is it time for our walk yet?'
'Yes it's been an interesting three weeks, and with Sally and Alan's advise and Holly's brilliant take on life, we couldn't have asked for a better introduction to life with a Deerhound'
Must go now as Holly and Max are telling me its time for their evening walk.
PS
Why did no-one mention that Deerhounds seem to be champion 'burpers' (after eating her meal, Holly likes to come and lay her head in your lap for a cuddle and have her ears caressed, she then lifts her head and gazes into your eyes with her liquid hazel limpid pools, and belches-thanks for that one Sally and Alan)
